LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Police Officer James Carver upon the
occasion of his designation for special recognition by the Police Emer-
ald Society of Nassau County, Inc.

WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to recognize and
honor those distinguished officers and citizens who would devote them-
selves to public service, demonstrating great courage and diligence in
providing for the care and welfare of the citizens of their communities
and this great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Police Officer James Carver has given not only of his time
and energies but also or his competence, intelligence and leadership and
consequently has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Police Offi-
cer James Carver upon the occasion of his designation for special recog-
nition by the Police Emerald Society of Nassau County, Inc. at its Bien-
nial Installation Dinner Dance, to be held at Crest Hollow Country Club,
Woodbury, New York, on Thursday, May 16, 2013; and
WHEREAS, The Emerald Society of Nassau County represents law enforce-
ment members from the county and 19 villages and city police depart-
ments, as well as other law enforcement agencies; its primary goal is to
promote Irish heritage in law enforcement; and
WHEREAS, Police Officer James Carver, first vice president of the
Nassau County Police Benevolent Association (PBA) since 2005, will take
on the esteemed role of President of the PBA in May of 2013; and
WHEREAS, The son of a former Nassau police lieutenant, James Carver
began his dedicated career in law enforcement as a transit cop in Brook-
lyn in 1982; he became involved with Nassau County Police Benevolent
Association activities after his 1986 appointment to the Nassau County
Police Department, where he was assigned to the Fourth Precinct, in
Hewlett, New York; and
WHEREAS, James Carver's long-standing and unwavering commitment to
service on behalf of police officers has earned him the respect and
admiration of his peers, colleagues, and the community at large; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Police Officer James Carver has
stood constant in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those dedicated
public servants who unselfishly devote their lives to the preservation
of order and the protection of others are worthy and due full praise for
their commitment and noble endeavors; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Police Officer James Carver on the occasion of his designation
for special recognition by the Police Emerald Society of Nassau County,
Inc.; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Police Officer James Carver.
