LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring James Gerard Quigley upon the occasion
of his designation as Deputy Marshal of the 20th Annual Bay Ridge St.
Patrick's Day Parade on March 24, 2013

WHEREAS, St. Patrick's Day is a time for people of all nationalities and
generations to assemble and celebrate the rich culture and heritage of
the Irish people throughout the United States; and
WHEREAS, A St. Patrick's Day parade reflects and records the ongoing
history of the United States and Ireland, and provides opportunity for
people of all generations to assemble in ethnic pride and pageantry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
James Gerard Quigley upon the occasion of his designation as Deputy
Marshal of the 20th Annual Bay Ridge St. Patrick's Day Parade to be held
on Sunday, March 24, 2013; and
WHEREAS, James Gerard Quigley is one of two sons of long-time Bay
Ridge residents, Thomas and Mary Quigley, whose Irish heritage is hailed
from Counties Longford and Mayo; and
WHEREAS, A life-long resident of Bay Ridge, Irish-American James
Gerard Quigley is a Vice President at Morgan Stanley; in addition to his
more than 20 year career in the financial services industry, he is a
business partner in the legendary Peggy O'Neill's in historic Coney
Island; and
WHEREAS, Deeply passionate about preserving, advocating for and show-
casing Coney Island's iconic reputation as an American playground, James
Gerard Quigley serves on the Coney Island USA Board of Directors; and
WHEREAS, In this capacity, James Gerard Quigley works with other
seasoned board members to provide strategic direction over Coney
Island's cultural initiatives, performing arts, and historical preserva-
tion; and
WHEREAS, Equally passionate about, and proud of, his Irish-American
heritage, James Gerard Quigley has been a business participant in the
Great Irish Fair and has been affiliated with The Ancient Order of
Hibernians and The Cathedral Club of Brooklyn; and
WHEREAS, When not working at Morgan Stanley or running Peggy
O'Neill's, James Gerard Quigley enjoys acting as a musician by playing
keyboards and singing; he currently performs in the Hell or High Water
Band; his hobbies include wine making and beer brewing; and
WHEREAS, A fitting choice for Deputy Marshal of the 20th Annual Bay
Ridge St. Patrick's Day Parade, James Gerard Quigley embodies the spirit
and the cherished ideals and values of Irish-Americans of this great
State and Nation; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor James Gerard Quigley upon the occasion of his designation as Depu-
ty Marshal of the 20th Annual Bay Ridge St. Patrick's Day Parade; and be
it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to James Gerard Quigley.
