Babylon Citizens Council On The Arts Receives State Grant From Senator Fuschillo

Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (8th Senate District) announced today that he secured $10,000 in state grant funding for the Babylon Citizens Council on the Arts. The funding helped the council offset the costs of some of their programs, including the Long Island Bluegrass Festival.

"Programs like the Long Island Bluegrass Festival allow residents to enjoy the outdoors with their families and friends and experience music and culture right in their own community, " said Senator Fuschillo. "Events like this really help bring the community together, and I am pleased that I could help support the Babylon Citizens Council on the Arts present this festival again."

The third annual Long Island Bluegrass Festival, which was held at Tanner Park in Copiague on August 20th, featured live music performances from a number of bluegrass bands. In addition to the music, there were also a number of children’s activities, including a magic show, juggling and a petting zoo.

"BACCA is grateful to accept this generous grant from Senator Fuschillo. Thanks to Senator Fuschillo's initiative, BACCA will be able to continue to present important cultural programs such as the Long Island Bluegrass Festival, which have become hallmarks of the Babylon region," said Raymond Zaccaro, the Council’s Executive Director. "Additionally, we are embarking on an exciting new program to explore the possibility of bringing more public art projects to Babylon. Senator Fuschillo's support of BACCA is a clear indication of his dedication to promoting the arts and cultural affairs in our community."

Founded in 1974, the Babylon Citizens Council on the Arts is a not-for-profit cultural resource center for the arts serving the needs of residents, artists, and art organizations. As an umbrella organization, it is designed to develop, sponsor, and present artistic, cultural, and educational programs; and to promote and encourage artists and art organizations in their endeavors. In addition, the council developed creative programs that engage young people in the arts, both inside and outside of school, and also holds workshops for both adults and children on art, creative writing, and poetry.
