The Village of Buchanan and New York State Senator Greg Ball honored Buchanan resident Virginia Rederer as a 40th Senate District Woman of Distinction Monday night.

In Buchanan Mayor Sean Murray’s Recommendation letter he wrote:

Mrs. Rederer has served as the Superintendent of Schools for the Hendrick Hudson Schools and as an Adjunct Professor for Mercy College and Fordham University. Besides her academic contributions and awards she has contributed to other community organizations such as the Buchanan Seniors, Hudson Valley Hospital CDenter Auxiliary, and the Hendrick Hudson Community Education Foundation. Mrs. Rederer has received the degree of Doctor of Philosophy from Fordham University and is very active in her local church. These are just some of the reasons I believe Mrs. Rederer would make a great addition to the 40th District’s Women of Distinction.”

Rederer and her family attended the Buchanan Village Hall meeting Monday night where she was honored by Sen. Greg Ball’s Chief of Staff Jim Coleman and Village officials.

“It’s certainly impressive to be recognized as a woman of distinction in your own communitywhere you live for years and years, where your friends and neighbors live— it means a greatdeal,” Rederer said.

The Town of Cortlandt’s nominated woman of distinction, Sheila M. Guida, will be honored at next Tuesday’s Town Board meeting at 7:30 p.m. (ARTICLE)
