Rockland County To Receive $200,000 Grant From New York State Department Of Housing And Community Renewal
The HEAP funds, federal monies received by the state and distributed through the Rockland Community Development Council, are designated to afford low-income families the financial benefit of weatherizing their homes. Services available through the funding include weather-stripping, replacement doors and windows, and repair or replacement of furnaces.
“For all of us, heating our homes consumes a considerable portion of our household income,” said Jaffee. “Taking pro-active measures to keep these homes warm in the winter and cool in the summer will dramatically decrease the amount of energy used, which is not only better for the environment, but relieves a substantial burden from those already struggling economically.”
