Senator Farley Salute's Boulevard Elementary School's Tom Komp

 

State Senator Hugh T. Farley (R, C - Schenectady) met with Thomas Komp, Principal of Boulevard Elementary School in Gloversville, on April 29th when Mr. Komp toured the Capitol with several of his students. Senator Farley also congratulated Mr. Komp for being the School Administrators Association of New York State's Elementary Principal of the Year. Mr. Komp will receive the award during a dinner to be held at the Gideon Putnam in Saratoga Springs on May 9.

Below is the text from the Legislative Resolution that Senator Farley sponsored honoring Mr. Komp.

LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION Honoring Thomas Komp Upon His Designation for Special Recognition

WHEREAS, The State of New York takes great pride in acknowledging its esteemed residents who have distinguished themselves in their community and in their profession; and

WHEREAS, Thomas Komp, Principal of Boulevard Elementary School in Gloversville, will be honored by the School Administrators Association of New York State (SAANYS) with the Elementary Principal of the Year Award during a dinner to be held at the Gideon Putnam in Saratoga Springs on May 9, 2008; and

WHEREAS, This award is bestowed annually upon a SAANYS member who has set the pace, character, and quality of education for the children in his or her school; nominees are administrators who are committed to students, parents, and the community, and have made exceptional contributions to education; and

WHEREAS, Thomas earned a Bachelor’s degree in physical education from SUNY Cortland; he also earned a Masters degree in education and an SAS certification from Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts; and

WHEREAS, He held several positions in the Chatham Central School District, and was Principal of McNab-Meco Elementary School in Gloversville before coming to Boulevard Elementary School; and

WHEREAS, Thomas has served as Principal of Boulevard for seven years; and

WHEREAS, He is an active member of SAANYS and the National Association of Elementary School Principals

WHEREAS, Thomas serves as president of the Gloversville Supervisory Staff Association; and

WHEREAS, He also contributes his time to the PTA, Fulton County YMCA, and Big Brothers/Big Sisters; and

WHEREAS, Thomas has made several presentations at national, state, and local conferences detailing the remarkable success of his school’s Response to Intervention model; and

WHEREAS, He has exhibited the true spirit of this prestigious award through his remarkable dedication to his students and his community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to congratulate Thomas Komp upon being honored with the Elementary Principal of the Year Award from the School Administrators Association of New York State; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be transmitted to Thomas Komp.
