Senator Flanagan To Host Emergency Preparedness Meetings In Centereach, Dix Hills And Smithtown

 

Senator John J. Flanagan (2nd Senate District) will be hosting three Emergency Preparedness Seminars to help local residents prepare for any sort of emergency situation. The meetings which will be held in three locations throughout the area will be open to all and will be free of charge.

Representatives of the New York State Emergency Management Office, the Suffolk County Office of Emergency Management, the American Red Cross and the Long Island Power Authority (LIPA) will be on hand to provide residents with expert advice about how to prepare for and deal with an emergency situation.

Those in attendance will learn how to prepare a disaster supply kit, develop a family communications plan, and a host of other important safety tips.

The meetings, which will all begin at 7:00 p.m., are scheduled for the following dates:

Dix Hills Branch

Middle Country Public Library
Centereach Branch
101 Eastwood Boulevard, Centereach

Tuesday, August 21st
Eugene Cannataro Senior Center
420 Middle Country Road, Smithtown

"With many experts predicting an active hurricane season, we all need to be pro-active in our approach to preparing this year. These seminars are designed to provide residents with the expert advice they need to get ready for and recover from an emergency. While it is information that we all hope we never have to use, it is essential that as a community we are as prepared as we can possibly be," stated Senator Flanagan.
