Senator Flanagan Offers Boater's Safety Guide

Senator John J. Flanagan (2nd Senate District), who recently announced his successful efforts to increase the penalties faced by those who boat while intoxicated, is currently offering free copies of the New York State Boater's Guide.

The handbook, which is offered in partnership with the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation, contains useful information boaters need to operate their vessels safely.

"Boating is a way of life on Long Island and a great way to enjoy all the sights and activities we have to offer. Being ready for emergencies, knowing the rules of the water and understanding your role will make everyone safer and add to your enjoyment," stated Senator Flanagan.

Senator Flanagan recently joined with Assemblyman Thomas DiNapoli (16th Assembly District) to successfully increase the penalties faced by those who are convicted of boating while intoxicated (PLEASE CLICK HERE FOR THE ENTIRE STORY). These new penalties went into effect in the beginning of August to protect all who use Long Island's waterways.
