Senator Fuschillo Joins With Local Veterans In Commemorating Anniversary Of Pearl Harbor

State Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (8th Senate District) today joined with local veterans in remembering the 66th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor during the Long Island Air Force Association’s "Dropping of the Roses" ceremony. Senator Fuschillo also joined with the audience in honoring the nine Pearl Harbor survivors who attended the ceremony.

As part of the annual ceremony, which was held at the American Airpower Museum in Farmingdale, veterans, local officials, and residents gathered together as roses were blessed with water from Pearl Harbor. A flight of aircraft then took off from Republic Airport and dropped 66 roses over the Statue of Liberty at 12:55 PM, the exact time in New York that the attack on Pearl Harbor started.

"Although it was a tragic day in American history, Pearl Harbor exemplified some of the greatest qualities of our country. The countless acts of heroism and selflessness on that morning demonstrated America’s resolve to stand up and defend the freedoms and liberties we cherish. Each of the veterans here today made their own sacrifices for our country, and it was an honor to join with members of the community and honor our local heroes," said Senator Fuschillo.
