Senator Golden Announces 17th Annual Ywca Of Brooklyn Holiday Dinner

Brooklyn- During the hustle of the holiday season, between shopping and cooking for our loved ones, we sometimes forget about those that are less fortunate but are in no way less deserving of participating in this very special time of year. Each year the YWCA of Brooklyn hosts a Holiday Dinner on Christmas Day where homeless and sheltered individuals from all over New York City are welcomed in from the cold to enjoy a hearty meal.

Over 200 hardworking volunteers plan to dedicate their time and attention to serve families and individuals full sit-down dinners with dignity and joy. These guests dine, live music is performed, and hats, gloves, scarves, socks, and toys for children are distributed. Packages of food are also prepared and given to guests as they depart from this festive gathering.

What is truly special about this event, is the YWCA does an incredible job creating a family atmosphere and making their guests feel part of a community having a holiday dinner together. Each year at this all-day affair, well over 2,000 people are served in 45-minute shifts and all the food is donated by organizations in New York.

Senator Golden is asking to all local residents to help spread the word about this event to anyone that might be in need. Senator Golden understands the importance of family and community during the holiday season and wants anyone to know that they have a place to go for the holiday, to share in the spirit and the joy. Golden is reminding all that giving your time to an event like this can be the best gift you ever gave someone this holiday season.

For additional information regarding this special Christmas Day event, Senator Golden is urging people to contact YWCA of Brooklyn at (212) 506-5433.
