Senator Saland Announces $203,458 In New York State Archives Grants For Columbia County

 

Senator Steve Saland (R,C Poughkeepsie) today announced that $203,458 in New York State Archives Grants have been awarded to local governments and community organizations in Columbia County.

These grants are offered by the New York State Archives to support the management of records. Grants may be used to improve records management or to preserve historical documents. Documentary Heritage Program Grants are awarded to community organizations, while Local Government Records Grants are awarded to local municipalities.

The grants for Columbia County are as follows:

Columbia County, Active Records $17,200

Columbia County, Inactive Records $74,548

City of Hudson, Historical Records $33,053

Columbia County Cooperative Extension Association,

Inventory and Planning $4,575

Columbia County Historical Society,

Arrangment and Description $7,753

Columbia-Greene Community College, Inactive Records $8,615

Town of Claverack, Inventory and Planning $4,832

Town of Ghent, Historical Records $12,302

Town of Kinderhook, Active Records $33,570

Village of Valatie, Active Records $7,010

"This is great news for our local governments and community organizations in Columbia County," said Senator Saland. "The New York Archive Grants are an important way to ensure that our state's diverse history is preserved and that local governments can improve records to better serve the public."

The New York State Archives is awarding approximately $9.65 million in grants to hundreds of local governments and community organizations across the state.
