Senator Saland Recognized By Cornell Cooperative Extension For Funds To Purchase Distance Learning Equipment

 

Senator Stephen Saland (R,C Poughkeepsie), today met with representatives from Cornell Cooperative Extension to announce grants he secured for long distance learning equipment. The equipment purchased through the grants has enhanced the distance learning capabilities at Cooperative Extension. Videoconferencing and computer equipment were purchased to allow residents of Columbia County to communicate with staff at Cornell University.

Joel Allen, Executive Director, said that the objectives of having a distance learning center at the Extension Education Center are numerous. The first objective is to use the center to deliver educational resources to the residents of Columbia County that might otherwise be unavailable. Allen explained that another objective is to use the distance education center to enhance the knowledge and skills of Cooperative Extension staff.

Gary Seymour, President of the Board of Directors, said he is appreciative of the efforts of Senator Saland to secure the grant.
