Senator Steve Saland (R,I,C Poughkeepsie) today announced he has secured $100,000 in the 2008-2009 State Budget for the SEED Program at Columbia-Greene Community College. The SEED Program has been providing skills training to Columbia County manufacturers and associated businesses since 1994. Thousands of employees and employers have benefited from the training received at the College through the SEED Program.

“Having the ability to maintain a skilled workforce helps to retain and attract companies to Columbia County,” said Senator Saland. “The positive impact on the County and its businesses, and, in turn to the local economy, is critical. I commend President Jim Campion for his commitment to this program and congratulate him on its success. I am most pleased to have been able to secure the funding for the continuation of this highly successful program”.

“Senator Saland has a long history of supporting employee development and job retention in Columbia County. The funding he has provided the college over the years has enabled us to meet the training and re-training needs of thousands of employees and dozens of companies. His investment in workforce education again this year demonstrates the Senator’s commitment to the economic well being of the business community and citizens of his district,” said James R. Campion, President, Columbia-Greene Community College.
