Senator Toby Ann Stavisky Encourages New Yorkers to “Say Thanks” to Soldiers Overseas
Program sends free personalized postcards to troops
State Senator Toby Ann Stavisky (D-Flushing) today announced her support of "Let’s Say Thanks," a program that offers citizens the opportunity to send a free printed postcard to U.S. military personnel stationed around the world.
"This is one of the easiest and fastest ways to offer our brave men and women fighting overseas a quick message of support during the holiday season," said Senator Stavisky. "As hectic as this time of year can get, it’s important we take a minute to acknowledge our troops. I can think of few better ways than the Let’s Say Thanks program."
The program’s website – www.LetsSayThanks.com – offers dozens of cover designs created by children ages 3 to 14. After the design is chosen, a written message can be added. The colorful postcard will be printed and sent to a member of the U.S. Armed Forces.
Created by the Xerox Company, the program has exceeded expectations, printing and sending millions of postcards to U.S. troops. Celebrities such as George Lopez, Wayne Newton, and Phyllis Diller have been strong supporters of the program which will continue to run after the holidays.
"After checking your email today, take a moment to visit the Let’s Say Thanks program website. Political opinions and feelings aside, it’s important we let our troops know their service and sacrifice are not forgotten," Senator Staviksy concluded.
