Weekend Train Service Disrupted August 25 -27

 

I have been informed by the Long Island Rail Road that weekend service on the LIRR's Main Line between Mineola and Hicksville will be disrupted from 1:05 AM, Saturday, August 25 through 12:45 AM, Monday, August 27, to accommodate work on the New York State Department of Transportation Roslyn Road Grade Crossing Elimination Project.

Service changes will affect customers using the Port Jefferson and Ronkonkoma Branches with connecting service revisions for Oyster Bay, Far Rockaway and West Hempstead Branch customers.

Affected riders will be re-directed to bus transport for at least part of their trip.

The affected trains and times are as follows:

Ronkonkoma Branch
Eastbound

· Between 12 AM and 7 AM, customers traveling from Penn Station to Ronkonkoma will then transfer to buses at Mineola, than transfer to trains at Hicksville to complete their trips.

· After 7AM, customers traveling to Hicksville, Farmingdale and east to Ronkonkoma will board dual mode bi-level trains at Penn Station operating via the Montauk Branch and Central Branch to Ronkonkoma.

· Bethpage customers will board Huntington trains at Penn Station, and transfer to buses at Mineola for Bethpage.

· Greenport customers will transfer to buses at Ronkonkoma for the remainder of their trip.

Westbound

· Between 12 AM and 7 AM, customers traveling from Ronkonkoma to Penn Station will transfer to buses at Hicksville then transfer to trains at Mineola to complete their trips.

· After 7 AM, customers traveling to Penn Station from stations east of Bethpage will board dual mode bi-level trains to Penn Station operating via the Central Branch and Montauk Branch.

· Bethpage customers will board buses at Bethpage then transfer to trains at Mineola to complete their trips.

· Greenport customers will board buses at their stations east of Ronkonkoma and make a train connection at Ronkonkoma to points west.

Port Jefferson Branch
Eastbound

· Penn Station to Huntington/Port Jefferson customers will transfer to buses at Mineola then transfer to trains at Hicksville to complete their trips.

· There will be added New Hyde Park stops on all Huntington/Port Jefferson trains.

· Carle Place and Westbury customers will transfer to buses at Mineola to complete their trips.

· New Hyde Park, Merillon Avenue and Mineola customers traveling to Carle Place, Westbury, Hicksville, Bethpage or Farmingdale will transfer to buses at Mineola to complete their trips. These customers can also transfer at Bethpage or Farmingdale to trains traveling east on the Ronkonkoma Branch.

· Carle Place, Westbury, Hicksville, Bethpage and Farmingdale customers traveling east can board local buses. These customers can also transfer to Huntington/Port Jefferson trains at Hicksville or at Farmingdale for Ronkonkoma trains.

· There will be two-hour service from Port Jefferson stations east of Huntington.

Westbound

· Customers will board trains at their stations and transfer to buses at Hicksville, then transfer to trains at Mineola to complete their trips.

· There will be added New Hyde Park stops on all Huntington/Port Jefferson trains.

· Carle Place and Westbury customers will board buses at their stations and transfer to trains at Mineola to complete their trips.

· Farmingdale, Bethpage, Hicksville, Westbury and Carle Place customers traveling to Mineola, Merillon Avenue or New Hyde Park will board buses at their stations and transfer at Mineola.

· Farmingdale, Bethpage, Hicksville, Westbury and Carle Place customers traveling between these stations will board local buses.

Far Rockaway, Oyster Bay, West Hempstead Branches

Both eastbound and westbound Far Rockaway, Oyster Bay and West Hempstead branch trains will have revised connections at Jamaica due to schedule changes in their Ronkonkoma and Huntington/Port Jefferson Branch connecting trains. Details are included in the special August 25-26 Track Work Timetables for each of these branches.
