Urge the Senate to Override Governor Paterson's Veto
On June 28th the senate and the assembly passed a budget bill that included $600 million in restoration of funding for New York's schools. Long Island was to recieve $83 million in restored funding, and schools within the 3rd Senate District were to receive the highest restoration amount of any other senate district in the state. The governor vetoed this funding restoration the same night it passed. This means that schools will not have the additional money the legislature was trying to provide to them to help offset property tax increases.
Senator Foley is urging the Republican senators from Long Island to act independently of their leadership and join him in voting in favor of overriding the governor's veto to restore Long Island's education funding.
Help Senator Foley show his colleagues that Long Islanders want to see this critical funding restored so that school districts will have another avenue available for providing property tax relief to residents by signing the petition!
