BALL MAKES JOBS #1 PRIORITY
Senator Visits One-Stop Employment Center in Carmel
(Senator Ball talks about services offered at Carmel One-Stop Employment Center with Officer Manager Janet Gomez-Canaday)
Carmel, N.Y. – (09/23/11) – It’s a grassroots effort to get local people back to work. Senator Greg Ball (R, C – Patterson) today visited the one-stop employment center in Carmel, N.Y., to get a better understanding of the services the center provides. The Senator is working to connect residents in his district with the tools, knowledge and resources they need to find jobs.
“On the state level, I’m demanding that we go back to Albany and hold a special session focused on nothing but jobs,” said Senator Ball. “But I can’t sit around and wait for that to happen. People in my district are in crisis. So I’m teaming up with the resources that are already out there, and helping connect people with the tools they need to get back to work,” added Ball.
Senator Ball has created a number of initiatives designed to help the unemployed:
- Forming an Economic Development Advisory Committee
- Launching a One Stop Career Center Website
- Hosting Open House Fridays for the Unemployed
- Apprenticeship and Internship Opportunities
“Anyone who would like to take part in my apprenticeship or internship program should call the office right away. Whether you’re a college student who’s looking to gain experience or someone who was recently laid off and looking to stay busy, we’ll keep you busy and help build that resume!” added Ball.
