BEEKMAN VETERAN INDUCTED INTO SENATOR GREG BALL’S 2ND ANNUAL VETERANS’ HALL OF FAME

    Brewster, N.Y. – (3/2/13) – Over two dozen veterans from throughout the Hudson Valley were honored at Senator Greg Ball (R,C,I - Patterson) 2nd Annual Veterans’ Hall of Fame Ceremony. Among them, was James Tobin from the town of Beekman.

    The Veterans’ Hall of Fame was created by Senator Ball, and designed to honor outstanding veterans throughout the 40th Senate District. Each veteran that was honored will also be individually featured on a traveling wall that will tour local municipalities throughout the 40th district.

    “I am excited to induct this 2nd class of heroes into our Veterans’ Hall of Fame! These men and women have been hand-picked by their communities because they chose a path of courage, honor, integrity and bravery; a path that helped shape America as we know it, protecting our way of life and liberty,” said Senator Greg Ball. “America is not a great country because of its politicians, it’s a great country because of our veterans.”

    James Tobin is the Town of Beekman’s honoree for the 40th District Veterans’ Hall of Fame.

    James Tobin was born in Queens, New York in January 1926. He served in the United States Army and United States Air Force from November 1945 through July 1952, serving in World War II and the Korean War. He reached the rank of Staff Sergeant.

    During his service, James Tobin earned the American Campaign Medal, the World War II Victory Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal, the Armed Forces Reserve Medal, the New York State Medal for Merit, and the Good Conduct Medal.

    James Tobin volunteered with the Boy Scouts, the Telephone Pioneers, and the Little League.

    James Tobin retired as a District Engineer at Verizon.
