Brewster, N.Y. – (11/02/2011) – Senator Greg Ball (R, C – Patterson) Chairman of the Senate Committee on Veterans, Homeland Security, and Military Affairs, tonight formally congratulated Retired Specialist Arthur Hanley on his nomination to the Inaugural 40th District Veterans’ Hall of Fame.

Created and hosted by Senator Ball, the Veterans’ Hall of Fame is designed to honor outstanding veterans throughout the 40th Senate District. Each city, town and village within the Senator’s district is nominating a veteran to be honored at the event, which culminates with a district-wide Hall of Fame awards ceremony on November 10, 2011.

A small business owner, and current co-owner of the Center for Living Well Therapies, Retired Specialist Hanley was born in Mount Kisco, New York, on April 6th, 1949. He served two years, seven months, and twenty-three days in the United States Army, earning the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Bronze Star, and the Army Commendation Medal for his service in Vietnam.

“I am humbled and honored that the Village of Brewster has found me to be worth of such an honor as to be nominated into the Veterans Hall of Fame for the 40th district,” said Retired Specialist Arthur Hanley.

“This highly decorated veteran is a prime example of someone that has made tremendous sacrifices for our country. Now after his services he continues to serve his country and the local economy though his small business. Thank you for your service and congratulations on your nomination,” said Senator Ball.

Village of Brewster Mayor Jim Schoenig said to Arthur, “It is folks like me a non-veteran who need to thank you & all veterans for the sacrifices you made to keep us free. People need to remember that when our country made the call you folks answered. We as a nation should never forget and continue to support veteran’s in every way we can.

In addition to the Hall of Fame, Senator Ball is also hosting a first-of-its-kind Hudson Valley Veterans’ Thanksgiving Dinner, which is set to take place on Saturday, November 12th.
