Brewster, N.Y. – (5/1/2013) –Senator Greg Ball (R,C,I-Patterson) today announced that the Co-Chairman of his Student Advisory Council and Carmel High School Junior, Steven Youssef, has been elected as the President of the New York State Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA). FBLA is the nation’s largest business organization for ambitious youth. FBLA has nearly 250,000 members and has molded many successful individuals.

“I am so honored and motivated to have the opportunity to serve the youth of New York State” Youssef said. “Winning the election means a lot to me. It’s really an amazing feeling to know that the students of New York have my back and now it’s my turn to have theirs. Being elected to President is just the first step of many that will help me lead New York State FBLA to its full potential.”

“I’ve known Steve for many years now. I’ve watched him grow into a respectable, strong, and honest leader,” said Senator Greg Ball. “I am very proud to have Steve co-chair my Youth advisory Council. I can say, without a doubt, that we can expect great things from this young man in the near future.”

Youssef previously won first place on the state level in the FBLA Public Speaking competition in his Freshman year of high school. Steven ran for the position of State Vice-President last year and lost by one vote.

This year Steven beat his opponent by almost a 3:1 ratio. Youssef has been invited to the National Leadership Conference in Anaheim, California to march in the Parade of Presidents. He will be leading New York State for the 2013-2014 year into the 50th Anniversary of NYS FBLA. Youssef will be attending State Officer Training in July for one week to learn the ins and outs of the organization.
