HEALTH AND SAFETY IN YOUTH SPORTS

Senator Ball Joins Doc Gooden, Mayor Cindrich to Thank Sports Authority’s Donation to Mount Kisco Little League

White Plains, N.Y.  – (08/02/11) – Senator Greg Ball (R, C – Patterson) joined Mount Kisco Mayor J. Michael Cindrich and New York pitching great Dwight ‘Doc’ Gooden to honor Sports Authority for its donation of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and heart shields to the Mount Kisco Little League. In addition to the generous donation, Sports Authority has also commitment to train coaches and parents for emergency situations on the ball field.

“I want to thank Sports Authority for stepping up to the plate,” said Ball. “It’s a beautiful thing when the private sector stands up because there’s a lot of things that government cannot do, especially in these tough economic times. Let’s make sure we do what it takes to bring this program statewide, as well as communities across the nation,” added Ball.

“I was your kids’ size and age at one time, and it all started right there. This is a wonderful, wonderful thing and I’m happy to be a part of it,” said Gooden. “I can’t emphasize enough what safety is in sports, especially in baseball. You really have to be aware of your surroundings. My hats off to the coaches, the parents, and the community for all coming together and for the commitment you have to your kids and giving them an opportunity to follow their dreams,” added Gooden.
