MILAN SELECTS LIFE LONG VOLUNTEER AS WOMAN OF DISTINCTION
Milan, N.Y. – (3/19/12) – During the Monday night’s town hall meeting the town of Milan selected Ann Mancini as their nomination for Senator Greg Ball’s (R, C – Patterson) Women of Distinction Hall of Fame.
Created and hosted by Senator Ball, The Women Of Distinction Hall of Fame was designed to honor outstanding women from throughout the 40th Senate District. Each city, town and village within the Senator’s district has been asked to nominate a woman to be honored at an event, which will cumulate with a district-wide Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony.
“It is impressive how much work Ann has done for this great community. She has dedicated herself through her volunteer work and has proven to be a great mentor and inspiration for all,” Senator Ball said. “She has built a well deserved reputation as a woman of distinction and I am honored to accept her nomination!”
Ann Mancini has spent much of her life giving back to the community through her volunteer work. She has volunteered at Northern Dutchess Hospital, Hyde Park Nursing Home, American Heart and Cancer Association and the Milan fire department rescue squad. She also has spent time as the scout leader of the local brownie and girl scouts. Currently Ann is the treasure of the Milan Republican Committee, president of the Milan Memorial Day Parade committee and the vice president of the Old Dutchess Village Garden Club.
“This is an incredible feeling, I can’t believe it, I thought they made a mistake,” Ann Mancini said about the nomination. “I am so happy to have my family here today, especially my two-year-old great grandson.”
“I have known Ann for over 40 years, she always steps up to volunteer her time and money, she is truly a treasure,” said the Milan Supervisor William Gallagher. “I hope to continue our relationship in the years to come.”
Senator Ball will hold a ceremony and reception at 6 p.m. on March 30, 2012 at the Putnam Emergency Services Center to welcome his first class of honorees, recognizing women of distinction from each town village and city.
