NYSEG CREWS HAVE RESTORED 92% OF SERVICES INTERRUPTED
Rochester, NY – NYSEG crews have now restored 92% of the 109,000 services that were interrupted as a result of the “October Surprise” snowstorm, primarily in the company’s Brewster, Liberty and Mechanicville operating divisions.
The only remaining storm-related outages are in the Brewster Division (parts of Westchester, Putnam and Dutchess counties, where NYSEG serves 85,000 customers) where approximately 9,000 NYSEG customers are currently without service.
NYSEG continues to expect to complete the remainder of its power restoration work by late Friday.
“We have 1,000 people, including nearly 400 line and tree crews, dedicated to this power restoration effort,” said Mark S. Lynch, president of NYSEG and RG&E (Rochester Gas and Electric). “We will be on the job 24/7 until all service has been restored.”
NYSEG customers should take note that during the power restoration effort there are times when crews must temporarily shut off power to an area to make repairs.

- 338,000 pounds of dry ice and 8,600 gallons of bottled water distributed to customers
- 5,200+ incidents of wires down
- 130+ broken poles
- 7 transmission circuits out; 6 now back in service (the line that is out of service is not causing any service interruptions)
- 17 substations out of service; all now back in service
