PEEKSKILL HIGH SCHOOL GOES WIRELESS THANKS TO STATE GRANT
Peekskill, N.Y. – 10/02/2012 –Senator Greg Ball (Patterson – R, C) is happy to announce, that as a result of a three-way agreement between the Governor, Senate and Assembly, a $75,000 grant has been awarded to the Peekskill Central School District allowing the High School to offer wireless internet to all students and staff.
The ceremonial check presentation and ribbon cutting of the new technology center took place on Tuesday evening in the Peekskill High School Library.
“This $75,000 grant will allow us to make the entire high school wireless,” said Superintendent Jim Willis. “Without this grant we wouldn’t have been able to do wireless in the high school for another two or years. We are very appreciative of this and we can’t say enough.”
“I couldn’t be happier to deliver this grant for the Peekskill High School,” said Senator Greg Ball. “This grant will allow the school district to provide the most advanced and up-to-date technology for their students. I am proud to fight to bring as much of our tax money back from Albany, to home, where it belongs. As long as I am in office I will continue to fight for Peekskill Schools and for the constituents I represent district wide.”
Technology teacher and Westchester County Legislator John Testa said that the new technology will help improve education across the board at Peekskill High School.
“Having the ability to now move into a new phase of technology will really be an important part of the education fabric of the school,” said John Testa. “This grant today and ability to have a wireless system in the school brings us into the 21st century and the students teachers will all benefit.”
