Senator Ball Secures $150,000 for Athletic Field Renovations
Cold Spring, N.Y. – (09/14/11) – Senator Greg Ball (R, C – Patterson) made a welcomed trip to the principal’s office today, dropping off a $150,000 check to the Haldane Central School District. The money, secured by Senator Ball through a New York State grant, will be used to help offset costs for badly needed renovations to the school’s baseball and track fields.
“In this economy, and with property taxes through the roof, it’s critical that we do not pass this type of expense onto homeowners,” said Senator Ball. “I also know that the lessons learned on the athletic field are just as important as those learned in the classroom. I support this investment and will continue pushing for projects that make our communities strong,” added Ball.
“The Haldane Central School District is greatly indebted to Senator Ball for his support in bringing long needed resources to the district. This grant will allow us to begin the process of addressing long needed improvements to our fields and accessory structures,” said Haldane School Superintendant Mark Villanti.
The school, along with the Town of Philipstown, has formed a committee to address to the long-term problems facing its athletic facilities. Areas identified as an immediate concerns include the girls’ softball field, the multi-use game field used for both soccer and football, the track fields and the little league fields.
