Ranzenhofer, Unyts partner for community blood drive at Eastern Hills Mall Neighborhood Donation Center
Williamsville, N.Y. – State Senator Mike Ranzenhofer will partner with Unyts– Western New York’s only organ, eye, tissue and community blood center– for an open-to-the-public blood drive on Saturday, April 5 from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Eastern Hills Mall Neighborhood Donation Center, 4545 Transit Road in Williamsville.
“Your donation can save up to three lives in our community. That is why it is so critically important to ensure blood is available for our friends and neighbors in their time of need. I encourage residents to celebrate National Donate Life Month by giving the gift of life through a blood donation,” said Ranzenhofer.
“The continual support provided by Senator Ranzenhofer and his team is outstanding, and it is having a direct impact on lives across WNY. I’m proud and honored by their commitment to Unyts and our healthcare community,” said Unyts President and CEO Mark Simon.
Residents can schedule an appointment by contacting Unyts at (716) 512-7940 or by visiting www.unyts.org, clicking on the “Give Blood” icon, and entering sponsor code 1776.
Donors must be at least 17 years old, weigh a minimum of 110 pounds and be in good health. Donors should bring valid photo identification, wear comfortable clothing and drink more fluids than normal on the day of the drive.
Senator Ranzenhofer is also encouraging residents to register for the Donate Life registry. Enrollment forms for the New York State Donate Life Organ and Tissue Registry are available by clicking here.
Headquartered in Buffalo and established in 1981, Unyts is among the leading procurement organizations in the United States, and is the only organization of its kind nationwide to offer opportunities for organ, eye, tissue and blood donation. Unyts operates as a not-for-profit serving the eight counties of Western New York and is part of the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus.
