Senate Approves Historic Women's Equality Agenda

    Millions of mothers, daughters, sisters and grandmothers from across New York State are on the verge of an historic victory at the State Capitol.

    That’s because the State Senate has just voted to pass a landmark
     new "Women's Equality Agenda," which includes important new reforms designed to:

    ·  Ensure that women get equal pay for equal work;
    ·  Stop sexual harassment of women in the workplace;
    ·  Protect domestic violence victims from discrimination; and
    ·  Combat the scourge of human trafficking.

    These are just a few of the many important components of this comprehensive package that is designed to protect and empower millions of New York women in their homes, their careers and their local communities.

    A woman
    should not be paid less than a man if she is doing the same job.  A woman should never be sexually harassed in the workplace.  And no woman should ever be subjected to the devastating trauma and suffering caused by domestic violence, sexual violence or human trafficking.

    These are the types of  basic, fundamental issues of fairness, equality, security and empowerment for women that are at the heart of this sweeping legislation, and I am truly proud to support this historic effort.
