SENATOR BALL AND SHERIFF SMITH HONOR CARMEL STUDENT FOR ACHIEVING EAGLE SCOUT RANK
Carmel, N.Y. – 01/16/2014 – Senator Greg Ball (R, C, I – Patterson) Chairman of the Senate Veterans, Homeland Security and Military Affairs Committee, presented Joseph Malinowski of Carmel Troop 1 with a New York State Senate Proclamation for achieving the rank of Eagle Scout at United Methodist Church in Carmel, NY.
Eagle Scout is the highest possible rank in the Boy Scouts of America. The Eagle Scout is an honor that is held for life and is said, “once an Eagle, always an Eagle.”
“I first met Joe last year when he was recognized by the National Merit Scholarship Program for his exceptional score on the Preliminary SAT Test. I was so happy to join him again, along with his family, as he achieved this prestigious rank of Eagle Scout,” said Senator Greg Ball. “I wish Joe much luck in his future and look forward to reading about his next big achievement in the newspapers!”
To achieve the rank of Eagle Scout Joseph was required to complete an Eagle Scout Service Project to demonstrate leadership of his peers while performing a project to benefit the community. For Joseph’s Eagle Scout Project he worked diligently with fellow scouts and community members to refurbished the dilapidated front porch of Drew United Methodist Church, not only assisting the church, but also helping improve the overall image of downtown Carmel.
