SENATOR BALL IS HIRING!!!

Senator Ball Accepts Applications at Dutchess County Job Fair

Poughkeepsie, N.Y. – (09/21/11) – Senator Greg Ball (R, C – Patterson) today teamed-up with
the Dutchess County Chamber of Commerce to help local people find jobs. The Senator attended
a job fair in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. where he accepted applications and resumes for positions open
within his Senate office.

“Teaming up with the Chamber, and other employment resources, is critically important to
getting people back to work,” said Ball. “At the state level, I’m calling on the governor to
convene a Special Session focused specifically on jobs. We simply cannot wait until January to
address this crisis,” added Ball.

Senator Ball has also launched a series of job-related initiatives within his own office:

  • Forming an Economic Development Advisory Committee
  • Launching a One Stop Career Center website
  • Hosting Open House Fridays at the Senator’s district office
  • Teaming-up with local career and unemployment center

Senator Ball is working with the Dutchess County Chamber of Commerce, and other agencies,
helping to spread the word about job fairs and other employment-related events.

“We are serious about job creation here in the Hudson Valley,” said Charles S. North, president
and CEO of the Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce. “Thanks to Senator Ball
and the One Stop Career Center website, we can spread the word and get our local residents
employed.”

Northwestern Mutual was one of the many companies at today’s job fair. Director of
Recruitment Michelle Donohue was very pleased with the turnout. “A lot of people who are
unemployed and ready for a career change. We’re telling them that they don’t have to stick with
what they’ve always done. They can be equally, if not more, successful by applying their skill set
and thinking outside the box,” said Donohue.

Ann Knickerbocker of Hopewell Junction graduated college over a year ago with a teaching
degree but has been unable to find a job. “It’s tough! I’m still living at home, because I cannot
afford to live on my own, which also limits where I can apply for jobs,” said Knickerbocker.
