SENATOR BALL HONORS PAWLING STUDENT WITH YOUTH LEADERSHIP AWARD

Brewster, N.Y. – 7/22/2013 – Senator Greg Ball (R, C, I – Patterson) honored Christopher Kendra with the New York State Senate Youth Leadership Recognition Award at his district office in Brewster, NY.

“I commend Christopher for the commitment he has made to his academics at Pawling High School. He is a selfless young man who is always trying to better others before himself. I wish Chris the best of luck on his future endeavors and know he has an outstanding future ahead of him,” said Senator Ball.

The Youth Leadership Recognition Award Program is designed to highlight and congratulate well-rounded students who excel academically and have exhibited leadership through extracurricular or volunteer activities.

Chris will be graduating from Pawling High School this June with a GPA over 100 and an advanced regents diploma. Even with this outstanding commitment to his academics, Chris donates time to many other activities. Chris is a three-year member of the track team, competing in discus and hurdles. This past year he organized the school talent show, raising over $1,200 for his senior class.

Christopher is a life scout member of the Boy Scouts as well as a senior peer leader. He was inducted into the National Honor Society along with the Spanish Honor Society. Last June Chris received the George Eastman Young Leaders award from the University of Rochester.  Chris gets involved in activities that will make a difference in his school and community.

A total of 7 students from throughout Senator Greg Ball’s district have received the award.
