SENATOR BALL HOSTS PASTA DINNER FOR JEFFERSON VILLAGE SENIORS
Jefferson Valley, N.Y. – (4/27/2012) –Senator Greg Ball (R, C – Patterson) served a free pasta dinner for over 250 residents at the Jefferson Village community center this past Friday night. The dinner was complete with spaghetti, meatballs, toss salad and sliced Italian bread.
“I love every and any opportunity that I get to spend time with the seniors in my community! Today I saw many friends who I have met going door to door over the years, including Mr. Bucca who is now 101 years young! I always have so much fun and learn so much,” said Senator Ball. “You learn much more while listening, rather than talking. This event was great and I was all ears. I am working to secure needed funding for senior programs throughout the district, I’m also fighting to freeze school taxes for seniors and constantly working to support the concerns of individual constituents throughout my district.”
Senator Ball went from table to table and had the opportunity to speak with residents regarding many different issues from the Elderly Pharmaceutical Insurance Cover Program (EPIC), the New York State School Tax Relief Program (STAR) and FEMA flood relief. But most of all, the residents enjoyed each other’s company and the food that Senator Ball and his team prepared.
“Senator Ball came to me with the idea to throw a free pasta dinner here at Jefferson Village a few months back. We normally don’t allow politicians to come in, but as the new president I am trying to change the culture; we have to work together with politicians,” said Joe Devery, President of the Jefferson Village Owners Club. “For Senator Ball to take the time out of his busy schedule to host this dinner and to chat with senior citizens is great. I don’t think this day could have gone any better. I am absolutely thrilled.”
Jefferson Village resident Theresa Cirino said, “This is great! It is very nice of Senator Ball to do this, he is really looking out for seniors. I think he is a wonderful guy.”
“The pasta dinner is very nice, everyone is having a good time, said Yorktown Councilman Vishnu Patel. “This is a wonderful thing to do for the seniors. There is no better medicine than touching a human hand, events like these are good for their health.”
“I think this is wonderful. There was plenty of food, Senator Ball did it right,” said Jefferson Village resident Jeanette Weissner. “All of my friends are here and we are all having a wonderful time.”
