Carmel, N.Y. – (3/24/2012) – Senator Greg Ball (R, C – Patterson) presented Chris Odell of Patterson Troop 440 with a proclamation for achieving the rank of Eagle Scout at Carmel High School on Saturday.
This is the highest possible rank in the Boy Scouts of America. The Eagle Scout is an honor that is held for life and is said “once an Eagle, always an Eagle.”
“It is an absolute pleasure to be here today with Chris. Less than four percent of scouts ever make it to this ranking and I would like to congratulate Chris for all his hard work to achieve this great honor, said Senator Greg Ball. “Chris is a great leader that we can all be proud of. I look forward to great things from him in the future.”
Chris join the scouts when he was 6 years old and has worked his way all the way up to the highest level, Eagle Scout. For his leadership project he donated 333 hours of his time working at Dover Saint Charles Church. During his time he refurbishing the gazebo, fixed the churches sign and also built a message board for the church to display messages outside to the public.
“I am very excited to receive this honor, it has been a very interesting experience holding many different leadership positions,” said Chris Odell. “I will still stay involved in scouting and will definitely still come to meeting and campouts.”
“Chris’s father, brother and myself are very proud of the hard work and dedication he has shown to become an eagle,” said Chris’s Mother Mary. “It means a lot that he was able to set a goal and apply himself through many hours of hard work to achieve it. On top of all this he has always maintained great grades in school. He is a great son and we are very blessed.”
