Brewster, N.Y. – (3/06/13) – Senator Greg Ball, (R,C,I – Patterson) Chairman of the Senate Committee on Veterans, Homeland Security, and Military Affairs, today announced that he has signed a petition to oppose the release of a current New York State Inmate.

Senator Ball has joined the efforts of hundreds of Somers residents to oppose the release of Terry Losicco (NYS Inmate #81B1188), who is eligible for parole in March 2013 for the rape and murder of Eleanor R. Prouty, a long-time resident and civic leader of Somers, NY, and for the near-fatal beating of her husband, Norman R. Prouty Sr., on May 25, 1980.

“It is clear that Terry Losicco’s release will create a clear and present danger to our community and especially the Prouty family,” said Senator Ball. “I have proudly signed the petition and I am currently working with my Law Enforcement Advisory Council to draft a letter in support of the petition to keep Losicco behind bars and keep our community safe.”

Due to Losicco’s violent nature, hundreds of residents are opposing his release. The petition seeks to send a strong message to New York State Parole Board that the community believes Terry Losicco belongs behind bars. The petition can be signed by clicking here.
