To help protect families, Senator John Flanagan (2nd Senate District) is reminding all parents of the need for  greater awareness and safety as school lets out and summer begins.  To assist parents in this effort, Senator Flanagan recently posted summer safety tips on his web site.  This section, called Senator Flanagan's Summer Safety Tips, provides useful information to help keep our community safer during the summer months.

As fun as the summer can be, everyone in our community must exercise proper caution in order to help prevent tragedies.  Senator Flanagan’s Summer Tips section provides useful safety information for everyone in the family including tips on pool and ocean safety, extreme heat precautions, boating safety and more.

To access this information, residents should visit and click on the Summer Tips section on the home page.  Those without access to the Internet should contact Senator Flanagan’s office at 631-361-2154 for a printed brochure on summer safety.

“Summer on Long Island is packed with fun activities and places to go and I urge everyone to take advantage of all that our region has to offer.  But it is important that whether you are spending time indoors or enjoying the outdoor fun, you take the necessary steps and use the greatest care to make sure you and your loved ones are safe.  Simply put - please be safe, be smart and be prepared,” stated Senator Flanagan.  “I hope residents find this information useful as you make plans for the summer season.”
