SENATOR FUSCHILLO COLLECTS OVER 1,000 CELL PHONES TO HELP SOLDIERS SERVING OVERSEAS

Over 1,000 cell phones were collected through a cell phone donation program sponsored by New York State Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) to benefit troops serving overseas.

All phones collected through the program will be sent to ReCellular, a cell phone recycling company. The donated phones will be used to purchase calling cards for the “Cell Phones for Soldiers” program. The calling cards will be sent to soldiers serving overseas so that they can call their loved ones back home.

Local residents dropped off cell phones at Senator Fuschillo’s office and at a recent collection event he sponsored at the Bellmore Train Station. Along with phones donated by individual residents, students from Mepham High School, Grand Avenue Middle School, Dodd Middle School, veterans from Merrick American Legion Post 1282, and staff at the North Bellmore Public Library collected phones for the program.

“This incredible outpouring of community support will go a long way to helping the men and women of our armed forces. The over 1,000 phones that were donated will help our soldiers serving overseas be able to speak with their family and friends back home. I thank all those who took time to help those who serve our country.” said Senator Fuschillo.
