SENATOR GREG BALL DEMANDS FORENSIC AUDIT OF MTA ACCOUNTING PRACTICES

Brewster, N.Y. – (10/19/11) – Senator Greg Ball (R, C – Patterson) says that repealing the MTA payroll tax was just the first step in protecting middle class, working families. Now, Senator Ball is demanding a full forensic audit of the MTA’s accounting practices.

“After years of leading the charge to repeal the MTA payroll tax, I am thrilled with the governor’s plan,” Senator Ball said. “With that being said, I will continue with my demands for forensic accounting to protect blue collar families like mine who are struggling.”

On December 9, 2011, the New York State Senate passed a bill (S50002), that would repeal the job-killing MTA payroll tax for 80% of the businesses that pay it.

Senator Ball has been fighting to repeal the tax since it was instated in 2009. As a member of the New York State Assembly, Ball introduced legislation to repeal the tax and audit the MTA.
