SENATOR GREG BALL HOSTS CLOTHING DRIVE FOR HUDSON VALLEY VETERANS
Brewster, N.Y. – 12/04/2013 – Senator Greg Ball (R, C, I – Patterson), Chairman of the Senate Veterans, Homeland Security and Military Affairs Committee, has announced that veterans at both the Montrose and Castle Point Hudson Valley VA Hospitals are in need of t-shirts, diabetic socks, underwear, warm coats, gloves and hats for the winter.
To meet the challenge, Senator Ball has mobilized his Faith Based Advisory Council and Veterans Advisory Councils to host an immediate clothing drive for Hudson Valley veterans that are in need of warm clothes this winter. The Senator needs widespread community support.
“It is sad to think, but many of our local Hudson Valley veterans are in need of warm clothing for the winter months ahead. I am proud to work with my Faith Based and Veterans Advisory Council to organize a total of six drop off locations where residents can drop off much needed clothing,” said Senator Greg Ball. “Our veterans have given so much for us, and it breaks my heart to think that some of these heroes lack basic necessities. As a community, we have a duty to ensure they are provided for. No New Yorker, especially a veteran, should go without warm clothing this winter.”
Senator Greg Ball has worked with both his Faith Based and Veterans Advisory Council to set up a clothing drive where residents can drop off much needed clothing for Hudson Valley veterans.
“During this Season of Giving we are mindful that there are many, many people who lack the basic necessities of life – food, shelter, and clothing. In 2012, our Veteran’s Hospitals served more than 240,000 Veterans who were homeless or at risk of becoming homeless- 21 percent more than the year before,” said Father Thomas Lutz, Chairman of Senator Greg Ball’s Faith Based Advisory Council. “Senator Greg Ball, Chairman of Veteran’s Affairs for the New York State Senate, has called on his Faith Based Advisory and Veteran’s Advisory Councils to sponsor a Winter Clothing Drive for Veteran’s. All collected winter clothing will be donated to the Veteran Administration Outreach to Hudson Valley Veteran’s who are in need of warm clothing for the winter months. You can help by donating New T-Shirts, Diabetic socks; underwear; warm winter jackets, sweaters, gloves and hats.”
“It is getting very cold and some of these veterans are in dire need of warm clothing,” said Eugene Parrotta, Chairman of Senator Greg Ball’s Veterans Advisory Council. “We appreciate Senator Ball and his team for everything they do for our veterans. Using the Senator’s large network, we should be able to collect a large amount of clothing for our veterans this winter.”
