SENATOR GREG BALL SECURES $50,000 GRANT FOR NORTH SALEM POLICE PATROL VEHICLE
North Salem, N.Y. – 9/30/2013 – Senator Greg Ball (R, C, I – Patterson) Chairman of the Senate Veterans, Homeland Security and Military Affairs Committee has secured a $50,000 state grant for the North Salem Police Department.
The funding will be used to purchase and equip a new Chevy Tahoe patrol vehicle. The 4×4 truck will be equipped with a 2-way radio, light bar, siren, radio, scanner, cage and computer system.
“During these extremely tough economic times and tight budgets, I am very happy we have been able to secure this grant for the North Salem Police Department,” said Senator Greg Ball. “This new Chevy Tahoe will not only help update their aging fleet, but it will also enhance the police departments mobility during snow storms and other extreme weather.”
“We very much appreciate the work that Senator Greg Ball does for North Salem. He and his team are tireless workers for us in Albany. Senator Ball makes sure the Town’s needs are known and works to get us help,” said North Salem Town Supervisor Warren J. Lucas. “Already this year he has delivered grants to our Library and now a new emergency vehicle for our police department. Thank you Senator Ball.”
“Due to aging fleet and extended patrols our department is once again in need of a new patrol vehicle. This grant will allow us to purchase and fully equip a new Chevy Tahoe with a mobile data terminal hookup,” said North Salem Police Chief Thomas Howley. “I can’t thank Senator Ball and his staff enough for their tireless work to deliver this grant to North Salem.”
“Senator Ball is incredibly responsive to our needs here in North Salem. Whether the Senator and his team are addressing our cultural needs at the Ruth Keeler Memorial Library or the public safety requirements of our Police Department, It amazes me just how resourceful and effective the Senator is in an environment where it has become increasingly difficult to secure that funding,” said Councilman Bruce Buchholtz.
In addition to the $50,000 grant for the police department, Senator Ball also recently announced two state grants for the Ruth Keeler Memorial Library in North Salem. The library has been awarded two grants totaling $32,250 for two projects, a generator and water disinfection system.
