Senator Martins Attends Wild West Benefit For the Friends of the Sands Point Preserve

On May 7, Senator Jack M. Martins attended the Sands Point Preserve Wild West fundraiser at the Hempstead House to benefit the Friends of the Sands Point Preserve. The honorees included Helen Keller National Center Executive Director Joseph McNulty as well as George "Butch" Starkie, mayor of the Village of Farmingdale and owner of Starkie Brothers Garden Center.

The mission of the Friends of the Sands Point Preserve is the preservation and protection of the magnificent structures and grounds of the Sands Point Preserve, to promote the Guggenheim Estate as a living museum focused on the preserve's rich history, natural habitats and the architectural features that enhance educational and cultural experiences for all who visit.

"This was a fun event sponsored by a wonderful organization in the Friends of the Sands Point Preserve. The Preserve is a beautiful place and thanks to the Friends, it's full beauty is being enjoyed," said Senator Martins, who presented Senate Proclamations to the honorees.
