Senator Martins Secures State Funding for New Hyde Park Community Improvement Project
Senator Jack Martins (R-7th Senate District) announced that he has secured state funding for a community improvement project in the Village of New Hyde Park.
The funding will be used by the Village to revitalize Memorial Park. The park’s existing tennis courts, basketball court, and walking path will be rehabilitated and refurbished. Memorial Park is widely utilized by Village residents and is home to the Village’s Children’s Summer Recreation Program.
“Memorial Park gives New Hyde Park residents a place where they can have fun, play ball, or just enjoy the outdoors. Upgrading the courts and walking path will help improve the services Memorial Park provides for the community. I am pleased that this funding will enable the Village to make these upgrades,” said Senator Martins.
“We have seen tremendous demand for use of these courts, but since they are in such dire need of repair, they are currently unusable. We would have needed to wait at least two more years to raise the necessary funding, but this grant will enable us to deliver proper and safe courts and a walking path for our residents this year to use and enjoy,” said New Hyde Park Mayor Robert Lofaro.
