Somers, N.Y. – (8/19/12) –Senator Greg Ball (R, C – Patterson) presented Jemmin Chang of Somers Troop 376 with a New York State Senate Proclamations for achieving the rank of Eagle Scout at Saint Luke’s Church in Somers , N.Y.
Eagle Scout is the highest possible rank in the Boy Scouts of America. The Eagle Scout is an honor that is held for life and is said “once an Eagle, always an Eagle.”
“It is a pleasure to be here today with Jemmin and his great family. There are only a small percent of scouts that ever make it to this ranking and I would like to congratulate him on all the hard work he has done to achieve this great honor,” said Senator Greg Ball. “Jemmin is a great leader that we can all be proud of. I look forward to great things from him in the future.”
For Jemmin’s Eagle Scout Project he planned and conducted a two-week summer music clinic at Somers High School designed to promote interest and enjoyment of music and hone students’ instrumental skills and musicianship. The program included a guitar class, instrument fairs, private instrumental and voice lessons, and workshops in music history, acoustics and music theory. Generous friends and volunteers contributed hundreds of hours to produce an incredible learning experience of over 300 hours of musical instruction, including 40 hours of private music lessons.
