    Brewster, N.Y. – (3/2/13) – Over two dozen veterans from throughout the Hudson Valley were honored at Senator Greg Ball (R,C,I - Patterson) 2nd Annual Veterans’ Hall of Fame Ceremony. Among them, was Jack Lederman from the Town of Somers.

    The Veterans’ Hall of Fame was created by Senator Ball, and designed to honor outstanding veterans throughout the 40th Senate District. Each veteran that was honored will also be individually featured on a traveling wall that will tour local municipalities throughout the 40th district.

    “I am excited to induct this 2nd class of heroes into our Veterans’ Hall of Fame! These men and women have been hand-picked by their communities because they chose a path of courage, honor, integrity and bravery; a path that helped shape America as we know it, protecting our way of life and liberty,” said Senator Greg Ball. “America is not a great country because of its politicians, it’s a great country because of our veterans.”

    Jack Lederman is the Jewish War Veterans Post 46 and one of the Town of Somers’ honorees for the 40th District Veterans’ Hall of Fame.

    Jack Lederman was born in Poland in July 1926. He served in the United States Army Infantry for two years during World War II in the Pacific Theater as a member of the Americal Division occupying Japan under the command of General Douglas MacArthur. He achieved the rank of Corporal.

    During his service, Jack Lederman earned the Purple Heart and the Combat Infantry Badge.

    Jack Lederman is a member of the Jewish War Veterans Post 46 of Somers, and has served in several roles at Heritage Hills in Somers, New York, including Condominium President, President of the Tennis Club, and a chamber music board member. He has earned recognition for work done on behalf of Israel Bonds.

    Jack Lederman retired as a Production Manager and Manufacturing Representative, a career that required him to travel to China, Japan, and the Philippines.
