Special Committe of Inquiry Retains Chief Counsel

 

(New York, NY)- Senator Eric Schneiderman, Chair of the Special Committee of Inquiry, announced today the Senate has retained Daniel R. Alonso, a partner at the law firm of Kaye Scholer LLP to serve as special counsel.
                                                                                                    
As a partner at Kaye Scholer, Mr. Alonso specializes in internal investigations, white-collar and general civil litigation and SEC enforcement. Prior to his tenure at Kaye Scholer, Mr. Alonso spent nine years as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York, including serving as the Chief of the Criminal Division. Mr. Alonso also clerked for the New York State Court of Appeals and served as an Assistant District Attorney for Manhattan D.A. Robert Morgenthau. Mr. Alonso currently serves as a Member of the New York State Commission on Public Integrity.

As lead counsel to the Special Committee of Inquiry, Mr. Alonso will assist the members in examining all relevant evidence and law to establish the proper procedures and ensure a fair investigation.
