Statement on NYSUNY 2020

Albany, N.Y. – Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and University of New York Chancellor Dr. Nancy L. Zimpher announced the NYSUNY 2020 Challenge Grant Program earlier this afternoon. State Senator Michael H. Ranzenhofer has issued the following statement:

“I applaud Governor Cuomo’s NYSUNY 2020 Challenge Grant program and his decision to provide $35 million in capital funding to each of the State’s four University Centers as part of its initial phase.  The University at Buffalo stands to benefit from the infusion of capital funding to the North, South and the new downtown campus.  The University at Buffalo has been a positive impact on the local economy for many years and the challenge grant program can only enhance the ability for the University to continue to spur the start-up of companies and economic development.  Most importantly, NYSUNY 2020 is one more step closer to making the overall UB 2020 plan a reality and is a positive first step in achieving our goals.”
