STATEMENT FROM SENATOR BALL REGARDING GOVERNOR CUOMO’S PROPOSED 2012 BUDGET

Brewster, N.Y.— 1/18/2012“I am pleased with the Governor’s focus on job creation through public-private partnerships while leveraging private dollars to rebuild crumbling infrastructure, yet overall I would like to see deeper cuts to state operating expenditures and a more aggressive stance on reigning in the waste, fraud and abuse in state agencies and authorities,” said Senator Greg Ball (R, C – Patterson) . “ Government should be shrinking and becoming more efficient, not growing and becoming more unwieldy. Furthermore, the proposed unfunded mandate relief via a state takeover of Medicaid must, without any loopholes, be attached to real, direct and substantive property tax relief to taxpayers statewide. Simply, swapping the cost of Medicaid from the local to the state, without insisting the locals provide 1:1 property tax relief would be both foolish and reckless.”
