THREE CARMEL HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT’S SIGN NATIONAL LETTER OF INTENT

 

    Carmel, N.Y. – (11/22/2013) – Senator Greg Ball joined Carmel High School senior, Samantha Fernandez on Thursday afternoon as she officially signed her National Letter of Intent to play softball at Syracuse University next year.

    Also pictured is Samantha’s teammates, Brittany Allocca and Jasmine Ennabe who both recently signed their National Letters of Intent to play at Hofstra University and Adelphi University, respectively.

    Samantha is captain of the Carmel High School Varsity team where she plays shortstop. Samantha was named All League in 2010, 2011 and 2012, All Section 1-AA Honorable Mention 2011, All Section 1-AA First Team in 2012 and All Mid Hudson Valley 2nd Team in 2012. Last season Sammy batted .498 with 4 home runs, 14 Rbi’s, 11 doubles, 5 triple, 27 runs and 17 stolen bases helping the Carmel Varsity softball team to their 1st Section 1-AA Championship in school history.

    Off the field, Samantha has been on the High School Honor Roll every quarter while in high school and has also been named student of the quarter a total of three times. She has participated in Spanish Club, Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) and she’s a Carmel High School Executive Mentor. She has volunteered at Putnam Hospital Center and Patterson Library Reading Buddies. Sammy was recruited and offered scholarships from St John’s, Penn State, Hofstra, Stony Brook, Boston University, Adelphi, Seton Hall and Syracuse.
