They Even Threw the Kitchen Sink at Her
The night of Friday, August 25th, my daughter, New York City Police Sergeant Damaris Díaz, a 19-year police veteran with an unblemished record, was arrested and accused of scratching her boyfriend’s 2005 Honda Accord with her keys. It would probably only take a couple of hundred dollars to repair the damages.
The incident is something very shameful, especially if it is done by a police officer, and I agree that some kind of punishment and a message has to be sent out to let everyone know that such behavior should not and will not be tolerated.
Police Sergeant Damaris Díaz was arrested, placed by the Bronx Police authorities in a Police Precinct holding cell for 24 hours, handcuffed, and transported to New York City Central Booking to spend a few more hours in another cell until arraigned before a judge and officially charged.
The Bronx District Attorney’s office then charged Police Sergeant Damaris Díaz with a felony – yes my dear readers, a felony – for scratching her boyfriend’s 2005 Honda Accord. Then, in addition to just throwing the kitchen sink at her, the New York City Police Department has suspended Police Sergeant Damaris Díaz without pay, until her trial.
You should know that when Amadou Diallo was murdered by 4 police officers, they were not suspended without pay after shooting 42 bullets into Amadou Diallo. We hear almost daily about police officers who commit all kinds of crimes and engage in police brutality to the point where some innocent people have lost their lives – and yet those police officers are not suspended without pay.
Maybe Police Sergeant Damaris Díaz, because she is the daughter of State Senator Reverend Rubén Díaz, a big mouth, controversial character who is opposed to same-sex marriage and abortion, and who is always criticizing the Governor, the Mayor and the establishment – and maybe because she is the sister of Bronx Borough President Rubén Díaz, Jr., – maybe, they all have joined together and find that it was not enough to give her a desk appearance summons as they do to others, but their overkill will make all of them look real tough, serious, honest, by not only throwing the kitchen sink, but everything else at Police Sergeant Damaris Díaz.
I am State Senator Reverend Rubén Díaz and this is what you should know.
