Woman of Distinction From The Town and Village of Pawling, Rose Clarkson
Ms. Clarkson, who grew up in the Town of Pawling served as Town Clerk for 25 years, retiring at the age of 77. While serving as the Pawling School Tax Collector, she was known throughout the community as the only person people would actually be happy to see when they paid their taxes. A Past Girl Scout Leader and Treasurer for the Pawling Free Library, Ms. Clarkson has always shown dedication to the field of education and learning. Along with her father, Ms. Clarkson was an original member of the founding “4 M’s Group” of the Pawling Methodist Church. Ms. Clarkson was instrumental in starting the Dutchess County Town Clerk’s Association and is still a volunteer at the Pawling Resource Center and the Pawling Chamber of Commerce. Ms. Clarkson is a proud mother of 4, grandmother of 7, and great-grandmother of 8.
