Woman of Distinction From The Village of Buchanan, Guinevere B. Ferris
Guinevere Ferris is a lifelong volunteer and advocate for education. She started the first storybook hour at Hendrick Hudson Free Library, founded the WHO (We Help Others) Club, and was the first elected woman trustee in the Village of Buchanan. Ms. Ferris was a girl scout leader, den mother, Sunday school teacher, Lay Reader, member of the choir and secretary of the vestry at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church. Ms. Ferris is a lifetime member and past secretary of the Buchanan Ladies Auxiliary and has served as President and Secretary of the Buchanan’s Senior Citizens Group. In 2003, Ms. Ferris was also inducted into the Westchester County Senior Citizen’s Hall of Fame. Ms. Ferris has raised five children while receiving an LPN from Phelps School of Nursing, graduating as the oldest student and top of her class.
