Woman of Distinction From The Village of Pleasantville, Janice Gambino
With the support of her family and a caring community, Janice Gambino established the Tina Shaina Gambino Memorial Foundation in memory of her daughter, Tina. After Tina's untimely death in 2004, during her senior year at Pleasantville High School, Janice built an extraordinary program that honors the memory of a young woman who was widely respected as generous, good-natured and infused with the spirit of giving. The Foundation's programs support other families at the Maria Fareri Children's Hospital, assist Pleasantville students with college scholarships, and build awareness of the life-giving stories written by organ donors. Every year the Tina Shaina Gambino Memorial Foundation sponsors the Reflections Scholarship, Tina’s 5K Run/Walk, The Drive Smart Program, the Thanksgiving Day Program and the Tina Sportsmanship Award. Janice, the entire Gambino family, and the many friends and supporters who have assisted in the development of the Foundation, have ensured that Tina's special gifts continue to enrich the community each and every year. Would the representative from the Village of Pleasantville and Ms. Gambino please join Senator Ball on stage.
